High-speed tobacco weighing line for RYO/MYO tins

Client

Through the acquisition of Cymco in 2016, Vaskon became a known and trusted partner for a European manufacturer in the RYO (Roll-Your-Own) / MYO (Make-Your-Own) tobacco sector.

Challenge

The client needed a reliable solution to fill round tobacco tins of various heights (95, 130, 160, and 180 mm) with consistent portion weights at speeds of up to 60 tins per minute.

Solution

The project started with the client’s request for Vaskon’s well-known weighing units — specifically our CTW250 model. From there, we worked closely with the customer to explore how the line could be expanded into a complete solution.

This collaboration led to the integration of:

• Two filling stations for round tins,

• Bulk tobacco feeding with automatic supply to the weighers,

• Empty tin handling, including accumulation and positioning,

• Return flow for excess tobacco back to the infeed,

• Checkweigher integration for real-time portion control,

• A custom-built platform ensuring full accessibility for operators and maintenance.

During the project, we also developed a central control system that communicates with all machines in the line. This gives the operator full visibility and streamlined control of the entire process from a single interface.
